1. 3. Unemployed □□□ (male, 19 years old) from Tongcheon-gun, Gangwon-do, tricked a wanderer □□□ (female, 15 years old) into giving him firewood on January 25, 2013 at around 2:30 p.m., lured him into the mountain and stabbed him in the chest with a knife. committed crimes of murder and cannibalism.

According to an investigation by the Ministry of People's Security, among 564 criminals sentenced to death for murder between 2011 and 2013, 53 (9.4%) were criminals who killed and ate people, 34% in 2011 and 37.7% in 2013. It has increased every year.

Cannibalism is on the rise across the country. By region, South Hwanghae Province (13 persons, 24.5%) and North Hwanghae Province (10 persons, 18.9%) account for the largest share.

The recent increase in cannibalism is due to an increase in the number of residents who are experiencing difficulties in their daily lives due to a lack of normal food supply. In addition, there is a secondary cause of not properly proceeding with education to make residents aware of the dangers of such acts and the laws and regulations of the country concerned. Another reason is the failure to strengthen policies and legal controls to help the unemployed and vagrants settle down.
